The Forgotten Tactics
When it comes to marketing, one outlet will not get you the results you need. Even if you strategize day in and day out on one platform, it will not be as helpful as a well-rounded campaign.
“What tactics should I be using” you ask? Well not just social media, that’s for sure! Every brand and company will vary, depending on objectives mainly. But there are a lot of tactics forgotten about since social media and digital marketing have taken the entire advertising world by storm, and we don’t think they should be left behind.
Email Marketing
This one might be controversial as it is not necessarily forgotten in the marketing world, but it isn’t used nearly as much as it could be. Email marketing is a great way to get in front of customers that actually want to see you! Most of the time, they are opting in to get your messages.
The biggest benefit to email marketing is how personalized it can really be. Marketing in other places won’t satisfy your entire audience. But when done correctly, emails can have something for everyone. It’s a great way to keep everyone informed and continue brand recognition as well.
When done right, an email marketing campaign is extremely cost efficient and normally very effective.

Word of Mouth
One of the easiest and cheapest marketing avenues there is – Get the people talking! You can’t forget the power of what customers say to their communities. When you build trust with your audience and give them good products and/or services, they take it from there.
“According to a study by Nielsen, 92% of consumers trust recommendations from friends and family over all forms of advertising. Another study by McKinsey found that word-of-mouth is the primary factor behind 20-50% of all purchasing decisions,” according to The Social Media Hat. The numbers don’t lie! When you give the people what they want, they will spread the word. Especially when your customers take to their own social media, that’s organic reach for you through people giving trusted and honest reviews.
Offline Guerilla Marketing
Business cards and branded pens are just the beginning. Guerilla marketing is “innovative, unconventional, and low-cost marketing techniques aimed at obtaining maximum exposure for a product.” This level of marketing, depending on how much you put into it, can be the most budget friendly option. Even in the most random of places, having a pen with your brand on it will be in front of people you wouldn’t normally see day-to-day. Dropping a business card in multiple areas around town can bring you even the most shocking of customers.
The biggest thing with taking on a project like this is to know your target audience. What types of products would they be interested in having and where do they normally hang out? That will give you what to get and where to place it. And if you put the effort into a good strategy with this, you can surprise your audience.
Whether you’re looking to save money or round out an overall campaign, consider trying something you haven’t yet. There is something for every brand and business out there. Don’t be afraid of trial and error, either. Sometimes your best work comes from just trying!
